I have standard Subaru 4 pot Calipers, Disks and Pads on my STi and I wouldn't be that impressed by them, Anyone else have the same thoughts or is it just me?? I'm thinking about upgrading the Disks to a set of EBC or Possibly Prodrive and a set of decent fast road Pads, is there a significant difference?? What's your opinion's??

I had the same brakes as you and thought they were cr@p I wasted approx £400 on discs and pads and they were still cr@p so I splashed out on some AP 6pots and they are the business. Expensive but worth every penny.

Ricky with most things it depends on your driving style. I have a set of Brembo GroupN discs with DS2500 pads, braided hoses, etc. However I feel the car is struggling when over 100mph. However the chap that works on my car runs a GroupN rally car and cant understand why we need more brakes!

The way it feels to me is that the first hit on the brakes isn't too bad but they seem to fade away very quickly, the pedal seems to travel a bit further than I think it should, thats just my opinion.

Had the same problem with mine a few months back.

Original pads wore down so i thought a chance to have an upgrade although the originals weren't that bad. Just the fact that the upgraded ones were similar money to the originals.

I put on a set EBC green stuff and found them very bad indeed, fade was terrible and would squeal an awful lot.

Then thought maybe the discs may be worn so upgraded to Tarox grooved discs and changed the pads again to mintex 1155s.

After bedding them in i found it was a lot better but not much better then the standard setup so i was a bit dissapointed.

Anyway service was due in a few months i thought so i will get my local dealer to take a look.

So a week before service i got a set of Goodridge braided hoses and some 5.1 DOT fluid, got dealer to fit these and replace all the fluid in the system with the 5.1 DOT.

Now all ican say is WOW i never thought doing the hoses and fluid would of made such a difference.
Pedal feel is much better and alot more power can be transmited to the brake than before.

So if your looking for upgrading your brakes i would recommend to upgrade your fluid and hoses first you might just be surprised.

Mel.
