Originally fitted with Pirelli 205/45/17. 215/40/17 have similar rolling radius.

Cool

205/45/17?

My 16's are 205/50/16

So is the wheel wider? Hence 215/40/17

What is the opinion on what to go for? 215/40 or 205/45? Differences or downsides/benefits?

Am I going to have any "rubbing" problem if I go 215? I'm about the same ride-height as a P1 (well @ the lip!)

Anything else?

I think I'm right with the sizes but maybe someone else will confirm. These sizes will give a rolling radius roughly equivalent to 205/50/16 (i.e. won't affect speedo / gearing much)

Not many manufacturers do tyres in size 205/45/17 (Pirelli, etc.) and so most people go for 215/40/17 (Toyos, Bridgestone, Goodyear, etc.)

I've run my MY00 (standard suspension) with P1 wheels and 215/40/17 tyres with no rubbing (even fully loaded). Currently running Toyos 'cos they're good and cheap(ish)

Cheers,

Ian.

Thanks Ian

I'm just slightly concerned 'cos I'm running Ledas & NSR has rubbed before on o/size slicks...

But I did have Dave T-S as a passenger

It is 205/45/17 thats what my PD7's currently have on them.

Just doing a bit of hunting about and I have found some Toyos in 215/40/17 for £72 a corner delievered to my door, so I think thats what I will be going for next month.

Wink

Sod off Puff

We had P1 OZ's on our MY00's, with 215/40x17's, no problem

Cool

Do you remember the rubbing @ BA?

It's to do (I think) with the NSR Leda, as its the rattly one & there is immense play (always has been) in the rubber top mount...

It just happened to be you in the car - 1st & only passenger ride for anyone of that evening

I had to roll the rear arches on mine - a simple task for a decent body shop (they should heat the paint first to stop it cracking).
