Question

Hi all,

I am interested in upgrading the rear brakes on my sport (MY00). Currently it has drums fitted as standard. I know that the early Sports had discs fitted but they were replaced by drums after problems of the discs ceasing due to underuse.

Has anyone replaced their drums for discs? Is this a feasible idea? Just wanted some feedback really!

Cheers, Dave.

The amount of effort required and the expense would make it a little bit impractical.

To be honest the standard Impreza rear brakes from earlier cars (solid discs), aren't that hot either, but they don't really hinder performance that much. Something like 80% of the braking effort is focussed on the front under hard braking, so I'd concentrate on improving these with the money you were planning to spend on the rears.
