Brembo calipers - bigger discs?
#1
Does anyone know?
Calipers are Brembo with AP 294mm discs
Is it possible to fit bigger discs (eg 330mm)using some sort of brackets to move caliper
& are there cheaper discs than AP that will fit.
Cheers
Mark.

Yes you can fit bigger discs but the only problem you may have is disc thickness , the larger in diameter size also means a thicker disc so they may not fit in your calipers , but , you can make the calipers wider with a spacer in between the 2 halves , the same as we do with our 294mm x 28mm discs and our 335mm kit , if you do it to yours it just a matter of fitting spacers between the calipers and mounting brackets .
Hope this helps , Ian

Mark, isn't your disc 295x28mm, with either 24 or 48 vanes? The next size up (for 17in wheels) is AP's 330x28mm disc, again with either 24 or 48 vanes. You'll need to check carefully that this would fit with your calipers and wheels.
I would guess you've got a ScoobySport kit fitted and they must have faced this question before and might just have a suitable mounting bracket, or at least some advice. If not maybe Godspeed could make you one.
Richard.

Thanks all.
Scoobysport don't do Brembo calipers anymore so couldn't help.
The original problem is that the discs are warped (been on 4 years tho) so thought why not upgrade at the same time.
Also new AP discs + bells 750 odd quid - I mean Jesus - there must be a cheaper solution.
I think for the time being I'll try & get them skimmed & if that doesn't work maybe visit Mr Godney for some biggies.

Mark, you can re-use the AP bells on new discs, assuming they're the same size of course, which I'm guessing they are. You can also re-use the bell bolts if you're careful and this is the first time. I think a pair of new AP discs will be more like £500, then.
But after four years you're probably past the skimming stage - AP recommend no more than 1.5mm wear total, ie 26.5. I had mine changed a bit before this level and with new pads so that the pistons are not on full extension, the difference was remarkbly better. It amazed me
I think your best course is a one-to-one chat with Ian Godney, if you can get hold of him. Maybe email first. Whatever the solution, he can supply or fabricate at sensible money
Cheers,
Richard.
