Question

I'm thinking about putting EBC Turbo Groove Front Discs and EBC Redstuff Front Pads on my MY98 Impreza (2 Pots). Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of these and can I expect any better braking performance than with the OEM discs/pads?

Any comments? (good or bad!)

Cheers

Better to invest money in 2nd hand 4 pots.
I did that first (on my UK98) then EBC discs/redstuff which were another improvement, but would not now recommend that, now I know what a good upgrade the Godspeed 330mm kit is (for the money - £575 ish).
AP's (£1600) are probably better but IMHO not 3x better !

Stan, the reason I was thinking that the 2 Pots would do is because my cars engine is unmodded and I'm not into track use or anything like that.

Gavin save your money and DON'T buy the EBC discs or pads.

They just can't handle the power/weight of a scoob.

Best option would be to put some Pagid discs and pads on. Or better still would be to keep an eye on the for sale forum, and get yourself some 4 pot calipers.

EBC are not good on a scoob IMHO - I speak from experience

Do a search on here - you will find lots of info, I'm not alone in my thoughts of them either!

Thumbs down

Gavin,

My wallet speaks volumes for the shortfalls of EBC.

I initially bought the drilled and grooved discs with red pads. They were really bad and were no improvement on the standard equipment. Noise increased dramatically although I was happy there was never any brake dust!! Took it to Subaru who test drove the car and concluded the red pads were designed for "track use" and therefore needed some heavy braking before they were effective. Advised "Green Stuff" pads may be better!!

Went down this route and found similar problems. Never have been happy with them and now six months on the discs are seriously giving me worries. Fade under light braking. I dont do any track days nor thrash the brakes (not that I would have the confidence to do so with this set up!!!).

Doing the Godspeed thing. Upgrading to 4 pots and 325mm discs with braided hoses. Wish I'd have done this in the first place and saved my money. Hope this helps. STAY AWAY!!
