Just go new front tyres as had a blow out this week. Replaced yokahama;s with p zeros. The car feels like it is bogging down and understeering more. Tyre pressures are the same.

It could just be that they need wearing in, the cold weather etc. it may just all be in my head?? any similar experiences??

Tyres need around 500 miles to get to their optimum working performance IMO. P-Zeros get slated on Scoobynet, and while my Toyo's are a marked improvement over my old P-Zeros, i don't think they are as bad as people make out.

Shouldnt mix tyres on the car and ideally all 4 should swapped in one go.

tyres are 225/18/35 at 32 psi on the front. the reason i ended up with p-zero's is that i was struggling to get any other brand in time for half decent money.

Red face

the P Zero's fitted to the Impreza P1 are apauling tyres, utter, utter $hite in this weather.

I put a set of P Zero's on my car last week to give it a test run after damaging my own wheels. They are deadly, i was getting wheelspin in 3rd gear at 60MPH in a straight line, swapped back to my SO2's and on the same stretch of road, i couldnt get it to spin up in 2nd, never mind 3rd. As for cornering grip, well, there isnt any on P Zero's in damp conditions.

Horible tyres, stick them on the back, that will kill the understeer, just dont blame me when you spin it into a field though.

I have only used P Zero's on my RB5 but must say the damp and wet handling is very poor compared to many 2wd cars I've had

Have to agree.
My OZ prodrive 17' wheels had P Zeros on.
Couldn't wait to get them off!

Swap the Pzero's to the back as John suggests then the Yoko's should grip ok on the front.. but just watch the back doesn't let go when you least expect it...

I dunno what it is about the Pzero's and the Impreza but the really don't seem a good mix.. other people I know swear by them on other cars but perhaps they have just never tried anything decent..?

I am waiting for my less than ideal Falkens to run out so I can get some decent tyres.. although the Pzero's I have in the garage which were free seem an attractive option.. until it rains

Steve,

Haven't had time to walk down and look, and it is so wet this time of year.. not got much time only being home for weekends and holidays..

Unfortunatly family not well really.. well not at all.. complications occurred with the pregnancy and Suzanne had the baby on Sunday.. and the baby unfortunatly didn't make it..

I am still waiting on some pads so have not fitted the disks..

Be very very careful with low grip tyres on the back - you will have an oversteering monster and likely as not pieces of hedge, wall etc to pick out of rthe car before too long - vary bad idea!

Another P-Zero deserter here........

Had them for 2 years on an RB5 - when I had it decatted they just couldn't cope. The Toyos I've changed to are much more grippy and predictable.

I did find, however, that if you push the pressures on the fronts right up they perform better once they're a bit worn (36 - 38 psi)

Have had F1's fitted on my scoob for the last 8 months of ownership, a guy downstairs from me offered me a set of BS potenzas for £20 (part worn) after sorting the bushes and balljoints on my car the front tyres needed replacing so i got two of the Potenza's fitted....
Holy ****!! i am scared to put my foot down in the wet...
I would rate ZZ1's above the Bridgestones!! It has shown me exactly how good the F1's were, my car now handles like a fwd in the wet.... Time for a change!!

Rob.
