Hi Guys,

Need tyre advice for an immenent change on the STI7 UK.

I am led to believe that it is a toss up between Toyos Eagle F1's and SO3's

Is this the case?

Goodyears are the best.... tried them all.

The new BridgeStones are not as good as classic S-02's.... I am told (not tried the new Bridgestones)

Toyo's very grippy in dry but don't last as long as Goodyears, Goodyears are more progressive than the Bridgestones on the limit... and almost as good as Toyos in the dry.Goodyear wet performance is very good/ the best of the 3

The new F-1's are judged as the best around at the mo, I run them on my M3 and wouldn't use anything else. Make sure you get the new F-1's and not fobbed off with the old ones.(not really that new anymore...been out since the summer).... although to be fair I can't tell the difference between the old and the new in terms of road performance

I have just put a set of Continental Contisports to replace the Toyos. Much better in the dry and the wear is also better. The soft compound of the Toyos were no good.

S0-3's or F1's.....nothing else!!!
F1's supposedly better than S03 in wet. Marginal diff at best.
I have just put a set of 215/45/17 S03's on MY01 WRX and after 2000km they are fantastic. Can highly recommend them...
Giant tyre test in Motor mag in Oz had them ranked overall based on wet & dry laps, & wet & dry braking: (all 235/45/17)

Have no idea what those toyos are..but hey 10th so forget em..

Not included in results is driver preference, which at the end of the day is what gives you as a driver confidence in what you are doing. More grip means nothing if you dont trust the behavior of the tyre coz you wont push it.
Feel includes the degree to which the driver can tell what the tyres are doing, or about to do.

I've just ordered Eagle F1 GSD-3's for mine, as they were the cheapest of the top 3 or 4 ranked tyres. The others are not massively expensive if you shop around, by the time you multiply the difference by 4, the marginal differences is probably not worth it. Besides I've just gone through a set of Bridgestones and I didn't think they were all that good in the wet and given that its always seems to be P1ss!ng down with rain I decided on the F1's.

Besides the F1 look the biz with the tread design.
