Question

Can anyone tell me if there is any noticable effect to the driving experience of a modest wheel tyre upgrade?
I am thinking about just going from the standard 16in jobs up to 17in, still with 205/50s tyres on them. For example, will this effect the ride very much? or the steering weight? And will the slightly bigger tyres generate any more noise than the standard ones?
Thanks in advance guys.

AFAIK you will have to reduce the tyre wall size down to avoid affecting the rolling diameter off the tyre otherwise your speedo will read out, try this site for the correct tyre size 4 that wheel

For a <MY00 Scoob on 17s you need either 215/40/17 (Toyo, Goodyear, Bridgestone, etc.) or 205/45/17 (Pirelli, etc.)

Fitting 50 profile on 17s will put the speedo / gearing out and you may have wheel arch rubbing problems.

Cheers,

Ian.

OK, thanks guys, I thought there was an issue with the speedo, but was not sure if a 1inch increase would be significant.
Does that reduction in sidewall height make for a harder ride then?

If you fit tyres in sizes detailed above the rolling radius will be roughly equivalent to 16s with 50 profile tyres. Ride will be slightly harsher due to lower profile but still acceptable.
