I had 15" Kumhos when I SVA'd my first scooby as they didn't accept Japanese standards (even though they were superior). I tried my best to kill the tyre as an excuse to change it but it still survived. It handles pretty okayish, tolerable to a certain extent.

Ive had good tyres and bad tyres, and would not buy cheap tyres anymore for my subaru. Im using 16" P Zeros, which are excellent, which replaced my Previous Bridgestones.
I Had Kuhmo's on my previous 15" wheels, and have to say they were crap ( cant remember which model of tyre ). The 15 in Bridgestones I had before that where much better, but generally 15" wheels feel bad no matter what tyres.
Im not sayin you have to buy the best around, but do get a quality tyre. There are a few around at sensible money. IMO, any reports on Kuhmo or Federal tyres I have heard were not good.
My pirellis cost me £420 for 205/50x16, but that was some time ago I think they are cheaper now, but I recently got a set of a crashed Evo 4 for £100, virtually as new.

Question

The time has come for new tyres again. I've been considering either one of the above which I can get for roughly the same money. I know there are probably better brands out there but as I may be selling the car soon these will be OK.

Has anyone any comments (good or bad!) on these tyres?

Cheers

Gavin

I put on some Kumho 712 Ecstas about 1 month ago, and they just get better and better I think.

Hard for me to compare, as I haven't any other decent tyres on the car, and went from 15 to 16" rims at the same time.

For the price I think they are worth a shot, got mine from xpedia tyres www.xpediatyre.co.uk

Well it was different from a year and a bit ago Pavlo. One thing I can say is that it just won't die and can really take abuse. In the end when I upgraded to 16s bought from jonny, it was as if I hadn't used the tyres at all. And yeah, they were dirt cheap to buy at that time. Heard a few months ago that they went up in price.

Got Kuhmos on mine at the moment (fitted by previous owner). Done about 4000 miles and they dont seem to have worn a bit. Probably out live the car at this rate!!!!!

Not totally convinced by them as no matter how hard I drive I cant seem to get any heat into them and make them grip! Not very confidence inspiring. Good ride quality though.

Glen,

Exactly what Kuhmo tyres are they, and what pressure do you run them at?
