i presume you mean you are fitting these wheels for trackdays??
what you've got will be just fine with something like Pagid rs15 pads and a grooved disc / nothing wrong with std caliper set-up if you're on a budget just put the right parts with it.
make sure you flush the brake fluid with fresh ideally something like Silkolene "pro-race" and then flush again the day after
mail me for any specific advice

Question

You could try Godspeed who do a 308mm kit that will fit under the 16 inch wheels, this is a 2 piece kit, it isnt the most expensive but does give good braking power and a few people on here have this fitted to their cars (and are happy with the results).

For the money and lack of hassle I'd go for the Pagid setup, I've got it fitted to my MY00 Turbo, I've tested it round a couple of circuits (one of which was Spa) and found it to be a fantastic setup. I've got the Pagid 8 groove discs (standard size) and the Pagid RS 42-1 pads in the standard 4 pots. Cost me £295 all in from Performance Braking in Monmouth, 01600 713117. Give 'em a call, they're really helpful.

Road use isn't compromised either, as these pads work better from cold (IMO) than the standard stuff as well. Don't know how they'd cope with slicks, but then you might need to jump up to the RS14's or 15's.

Dont know if I'd invest a lot in any brake kit on 16" wheels.

If your current disks are shot, then get some secondhand 17" wheels (£400 on here) and try to stretch to the big rotors. If you are tracking the car, I dont think there is any way standard size disks will cope - you should see the heat crack in my standard STi V disk, HORRENDOUS!

sorry to disagree, but we run various competition vehicles (including sti4 rally hire car) with std cailper (due to production regs) and uprated pads/grpN discs and never have any problems......
most problems are caused by mismatching of the pad/disc material, old/poor brake fluid or incorrect bedding in of material
the trick is to put the right components together and you'd be amazed

Alyn, you have much broader experience than me mate, but rallying is a completely different issue to tracks? I know the disks glow red on rally cars, but that is just neon backlighting for the cameras

I cracked my 16" wheels' standarddisk, and I am only an 'intermediate' (bloody good one though ). That is a bit scary - but lets see what the 335 mm super vent daddy disks do witgh your Pagid Blacks on Sat!

at the moment i use ebc turbogroove disks with yellowstuff padsdone 6 trackdays 2 sets of pads but the disks have some tiny hairline cracks they have worked very well considering the size of thembut now i will be running slicks it is time to move on

thanks for all the relies i have 18" alloys on the car at the moment the 16"alloys are for trackdays as i can get slicks for them quite easily

i think from all of your replies i think it will be a toss up betwean the pagid set up or godspeed
