Question

Back to basics..... (excuse me for being dumb!)

I've got 2 sets of wheels for my RB5 - the original 17"s (Speedline ST2's) and a set of P1 OZ 17"s.......

I have always kept to the original brand of tyre from when I got the car (Pirelli P-Zeros) in 205/45 r17 size. I see loads of posts from people who have 215/40/ R17 tyres fitted. I understand what the tyre sizing figures mean, but what I'm not sure of :-
Would this size fit on my wheels? or has everyone else got wider rims?? I am dying to know as I need new tyres soon, and am heartily sick of paying through the nose because of the unusual tyre size! With the slightly wider tyre, what performance characterisitcs would this produce?

Any advice greatfully received!!

They should fit on your wheels. I have a set of OZ superTs and a set of Prodrive Speedlines, both of which will take 205/45/17s or 215/40/17s.

Incidently, I got my last lot of Pzeros for only a fraction more than Toyo Proxies. (I only needed 2 - kerb damage on one old one )

Not sure how much handling difference you will notice. However I think that very little of it will be down to the tyre width alone.

Any chance you could put a photo in the gallery once you have the wheels recoated? I would be interested in seeing what it looks like.

Thumbs up

No problem.

Been thinking about doing it for a while - looking on the net it was about £30 a wheel.... I went and had a word with a very nice young lady at WheelMania in Birmingham, and she gave me the details of a place that they recommend - phoned them this afternoon and they're going to do it for £15 a wheel!!!!

If all goes well I'll post the details up!
