I too have the OE tyres fitted after having a row from my local dealer. I wanted to save money so put 215/40/17 on instead but then had to take them off and put the normal size back on. I have 32psi i think in all the tyres. Hope this helps

Question

Why did your dealer amke you change the size if the tyres ?
From what most people say on hear a lot use the Toyo's and i was thinking of doing them next time round ??

Because standard size is 205/45/17 right? I put 215/40/17 on thinking the difference was negligable. Subaru Dealer told me to put OE tyres on because of strain on the diff and other parts in the drivetrain. I'm as confused as you but have to conform as my gearbox is on its way out. Its been like it since i had the car but has got noticably worse recently. Crunch in 4th every single time and most of the time in 1st.

R.B.5.,

Which Dealer told you that? Both Dealer's I've been too over the past 3.5yrs and 45K miles never told me that.

Haven't heard any other reports in the last 3yrs on Scoobynet either.

I've ran Eagles for the past 20K with no adverse problems on my RB5.

RB5,

Were you mixing 205/45/17 with 215/40/17. If so, this would explain and yes, your dealer was correct.

Hi mate

I own an RB5 with full PPP and have recently changed to the goodyear F1s in the sizes 215/40/17. These are inflated to 33 psi on the fronts and 29 psi on the back. If you look on the drivers side door column there should be a chart telling you what pressure to inflate them to.
Hope this helps

Mikey
