Has anyone actually tried?

I am confused how the offset on the RB5 wheels which are the same design can be different without arch incidents either on my car or on an RB5?

Was it just a coincidence that Prodrive stopped supplying these wheels when the 4pots were fitted to the car?

Is there perhaps not much clearance but they still fit?

If it is a definite no no then I might have to look into fitting twin 2pots when I upgrade eventually as these wheels are not going...

ToneLoc sold me his speedlines because he couldn't get his four pots under them . My Wheels are exactly the same .

I've got Brembo 4 pots & these wheels - need to use about 3mm spacers - not ideal but it's been fine for 42k miles.

Impossible - can't get the wheel on - with spacers there's a mm or 2 of clearance.
Also if u get a puncture at the front u have to change 2 wheels - spacesaver's way wrong - only fits on the back.

I found this out too late at a cost.

The RB5 wheels are a slightly different design, the spokes at the top bend out (cant think of a better to way to explain that) allowing that vital clearance.

You can use spacers but most on here don't think it's a good idea, especially if you do track/drive the car hard.

Space saver is like that with the cars with 4pots anyway.

Would have rather had confirmation the otherway but at least it is for sure that they don't fit.

It was a pie in the sky thought.. if two pots fit, and there is room around the disk why not fit a second two pot caliper?
Probably issues of heat and weight to consider.

My father in-law has endless amounts of scrap metal and a welder. just had a idea I could make a bracket and buy some 2pots cheap..
standard disk size though so probably less braking power than 4pots?
Also obviously a fair bit extra unsprung weight..

Anything to save a few squids! and be different.

Just to confirm they do not fit.... and yes i did try (again and again and again ). The only way to get the Subaru 4 pots to fit (with about 2-3mm clearance between the caliper and inside of the wheel) is to use 7mm spacers. This would really mean using longer stud bolts plus all the load would now be on these and not the centre spigot. I decided to get some Superturismo 2s (ST2s) which prodrive switched two when the 4 pots were fitted to UK cars, so Andy (Avi) got my wheels.

You are correct in that these wheels do not fit over Subaru 4 pot calipers in ET55.

The RB5 wheel looks similar but does not have the same spoke shape giving more caliper clearance.

I may have another solution though to upgrade the brakes and still fit behind these wheels.

How about a caliper that fits with the same disc as the 4 pots and takes the same pads as 97/98MY?

My 325mm four pot kit will fit behind these wheels , but we have had to modify the standard 325mm kit to get it to fit , there are a couple of members on here with them fitted , Our 308mm foour pot kit also fits , Cheers Ian

I ran wheels similar to these with 3mm spacers on my 4 pot equipped Legacy before I put the current rims on. My experience is as follows:
1. You can put up to 5mm of spacer on before you need to resort to longer studs. I am still running my 3mm spacers even with the MY00 16" rims, with a little added camber and MY01 front struts, they do wonders for the turn-in.

2. You can get the rear of the spokes machined out to clear the calipers, this is effectively what Prodrive did (they specced a larger cut-away to the speedline factory). If you look at the rear of the wheel it is a machined finish anyway and there is plenty of meat left before you are approaching RS4 plastic wheel syndrome.

The second option is only really feasible if you have access to a machine shop at trade rates, as I have. But if you want some cheap (circa £15/pair) ally spacers knocking up drop me a mail to the addy in my profile.

Prodrive spec'd the wheel to be cut away at the back!!!!!!!!!!! Is this the RB5 wheel your reffering too? If it is it isn't a superturismo with the back cut out.... they are very different wheels (with the same basic double spoke design).
