Question

Can anyone suggest a good place, pref. in the northwest to get these?

Just tried a Subaru dealer who only have part number for complete upgrade kit! £1,500+

A tad expensive seeing as I only need the discs!

Many thanks in advance.

Try Performance Braking in Monmouth, they had a few different sizes of seperate disc when I was there last week picking up my Pagid bits, they may be able to help you out. 01600 713117, ask for Jill or John. They are a supplier of Pagid, Brembo and AP and I've found them very good, very cheap and extremely helpful.

Stockcar/Mike,

thanks for info, it looks like it may be an aftermarket job then. What a pity as I would have preferred to keep the car 'original'.

I don't understand what they gain by not supporting their products and pricing themselves way out of the market.

Alcon supposedly have 2 distributors in the UK, Cheshire & Northants. One has no Alcon details at all on their website and the other just says call with requirements, no specs or prices!

Maybe worth a call direct to Alcon and see what they say.

Thanks again,

TTM

Thanks Fizz, their website seems to be down at mo, will try them later.

Would be interested to know if anyone has fitted other discs with the Alcon calipers??

I've just had these made up. It worked out quite expensive this time cos i had to start from scratch but i think they are still cheaper than going to a subaru dealer plus i now have better brakes

I got some AP discs from AP, theses are 330*28 with 48 curved veins and 8 grooves

I then got some DS2500 from a dealer and took my bits to Hi-Spec where they machined me some bells

Discs= £425
Pads= £200
Bells & fitting = £280

Total= £905 but at least next time i will only have to fork out for pads

Hello Scott, seems a long time ago since The Cat! You going again next year?

Those look terrific! Are they on a P1 then?

I'll definately give Hi-Spec a call, thanks.

Question

Stockcar, you've obviously been thru' the pain then!

So it seems that if I want the 'original' part I have to pay through the nose and stick with the dealer?

Info I'm being given is that these things could cost upto £700 + fitting, looks like I may be following Scott's option as above. This seems a longer term better option.

Thanks for info.

You'll only get replacement Alcon/Prodrive discs from an official Subaru dealer. List price is £658 inc VAT.

Might still be worth trying Performance Braking, I know they've had separate disc / bell combinations machined up in the past, they told me they did it for a Lotus Elise parts place, and the price she quoted me was *very* good, (I was asking for a friend with an Elise) something like £250 a pair. I noticed a stack of bells in the storeroom, so I'd be fairly certain they could get something made up for you.

I'm nothing to do with them btw, just a very satisfied customer.

Godspeed produce disc/bell setup for the Alcons. Cost something like £450 for 2 x disc/bell but then future disc replacements were about £130 each (I forget the exact figures) but they're there or thereabouts.

Mike, will contact them, their website seems to redirect to a holiday home in USA at mo! (There's a thought?)

Simon, just posted on group buy thread! I'll call Ian, you got any pics of your setup?

The correct information you should be getting is this ;

a) if the disk is warped its replaced free due to being guaranteed with that pad.

b) if just worn down and needs replacing Ralliart who organised replacement discs on mine said they were 450 quid for a complete set of discs and i believe including the ds2000 pads for the front only.

P1 Enthusiast, thanks for info.

That's the cheapest I've heard so far, is that for Alcons then?

I can get alternate Bells & Rotors for £475.00 I found out today, which keeps future costs down.

Cheers.

Thanks Vinesh, I noticed a 'coming soon' note on their website, I'll give them a call.

Anywhere else?
