I have a set of the above sized tyre that I kept after I sold my RB5. Will they go on the rims of my STI UK for a trackday(std size is 225 45 17), I know the speedo will be out by about 5%, but will they pysically fit on the rims without too much bother or potential problems?

Yes,

they should fit on the rims without any problems at all. The speedo will under-read a bit (ie probably be more accurate), and the gearing will be dropped by the same amount as well, which si sometimes a good thing for a track day.
