I was tempted, but I have read various reports that disuaded me. ALso I found they use their cheapest discs on the bigger kits.

Their calipers seem to be the weak link, but the curved vanes discs look good. To that end, I have looked at combining some wilwood discs and bells with Hispec calipers and mounting brackets.

For the 310 discs and monster 4 calipers, it worked out at about £650 not including pads and hoses.

Replacement discs are about £68+vat (32 curved vanes) or £110+vat (48 curved vanes) and these are 32mm thick.

Hispec said they are looking at doing kits with racing discs (ie many curved vanes) possible made from Performance Friction blanks. They currently use EBC blanks.

X give Fiona a call at Hi-Spec. They can do kits for about the same sort of money. And they are based in Dartford.

I have found TSL to be more responsive than Hi-Spec themselves, they are just too busy makin stuff.

I saw Fulham71's car tonight in the flesh with TSL (ie Hi-Spec) 6 pot brakes, and they do look good, the pictures just don't convey how big the calipers are, and how nice they look (quality nice, not chintsy nice!)

My plan is still to get the wilwood discs though.

The stoptech thread elsewhere gives a price of £1175 all in, which is good as the kit includes the lines and pads.

The stoptech gear looks great, similar discs to the AP, with 48 curved vanes, which give good surface area, and reduce cracking (as vanes cross the normal cracking direction).

I'm still looking for a 16" wheel solution though, which is a shame.

Thumbs up

Pavlo, I think you're going through the same buying process as me. I need a kit for 16's as well and the AP solution is too pricey.

I'll try and mail you my idea when I get home tonight and maybe we can swap thoughts.

sounds like a plan.

I have access to a decent lathe and mill, so adjusting wilwood universal bells etc is possible.

Although if 2 or 3 people were interested, it may be cost effective to get a local machine shop to do work.

i used to have willwood 4 pots with 308 mm discs on an opel manta, far better than the alcons i had on my p1, only downside was that there were no dust seals on the willwoods, not good with the salt on the road, luckily the manta was just a track/show car
