P1 brake upgrade...
#1
Hi,
Time has come to change my brakes, so am thinking about upgrading them to some 6 pots 330 mm..
The official Prodrive/Alcons are available, but at the same (roughly) price, I've seen AP Racing, KAD/Scoobysport ones..
Anyone have any info/views?
Are the Prodrive ones 6 pot?
Cheers

I've got Alcons on my P1, but it depends on your view on the warranty issue.
Good brakes but can be warped with hard use, probably due to solid dics, no separate alloy bell like AP etc. Look good, if that's important.
Personally, I am thinking about trying to get an AP disc and bell sorted out to fit the calipers, when they go next time ( on my second set of discs due to warping). DS 2000 - the pads they will be supplied with are not up to the job either, when they get really hot you get pad deposition which can kick off the whole warping process, DS 3000 are brilliant and were prodrive's original fitment but they are a very aggressive pad, screech like buggery and leave bad dust and kack all over your wheels etc. Still if you want to stop like someone has thrown an anchor out of the boot....
Best compromise is DS2500 good braking less dust quiet etc..
