Unhappy

had some tyres swapped over onto different wheels, went to a humphries and they must have cross threaded one of the nuts back on, tried to get it off earlier as I needed to sort out something with the brakes, forced it and voila, snapped the stud in half leaving the rest of it in the nut!

Are these easy to fix? do I need to go to Subaru for the part? It's a 95 WRX.

Thanks

yep easy to fit you just have to remove the abs ring just unbolt the allen keys thats usally enough and knock the stud back. it will be tight but it will go, then put the new one in the hole and using a wheel nut and a spacer from somewhere do it up and pull the new one back in to place again it will be tight but it will come through. remember the spacer needs to fit over the stud but the nut has to do up on to the spacer. then just bolt the abs ring back on and reassemble. no need to dismantle the hub assembly at all.

I've had the same problem going to tyre fitters and having them **** everything up with a buzz gun! On one occasion they mannaged to mess up 2 on one wheel.

I now supervise all nut replacement to make sure they're well hand started before any tools get near them.

I can concur the above....not a big job on the rears. On the front there's an obliging notch cut in the hub to allow the back of the stud to clear as you tap ith through.

Most dealers have the studs in stock....must be a common occurance.
