Mytyres web site has a useful feature where it gives German test scores against all tyres (bit like the Evo test earlier this year)

The Michelin scores better in all except one category -
even beats the Goodyear GSD F1, Bridgestone and Toyo Proxes !

£107 each instead of £90 for the Goodyear (205 /50 16)

Anyone tried them yet - must be the Exalto - other Mich's not as good.

dont bother

i have them on my MY98 for nearly a year now, cant wait till i can change them, theyve got loads of tread left on them but im putting eagle F1's on next month.

my reasons are simple:

1. They are cr4p in the dry - i get understeer, screaching and lack of grip when cornering, i can also wheelspin in the dry.

2. They are absolutely dangerous in the wet - i have lost all confidence in the AWD handling/capabilities of my car because of these tyres, they understeer and when its wet its like driving on ice.

do not do it, get eagle F1's......i am!

on the upside though they are a harder compound and last for frickin ages

all IMHO of course

Thanks for letting us know !
The test scores were actually better than the F1s!
No substitute for real life experience.

Though I'd post the German tyre test positions

AVERAGE POSITION OUT OF 34 TESTS (1 Best, 6 worst)

Eagle F1 GSD3 - 2.2 (Dry grip 1,4, wet grip 1.9)
Pirelli P Zero- 2.6 (Dry grip 1.3, wet grip 2.7)
Pilot Exalto - 1.8 !!! (Dry grip 1.2, wet grip 1.7)

I'll still go for the F1's though based on word of mouth.

Re-raising this as time for all 4 new tyres now:-

- It seems the Exaltos are no good - anyone disagree ?

- Anyone NOT like the F1 GSD3 Goodyears ?

I put them up front on the VTS after Michelin stopped making the Pilot sx gt's and they sucked!! The VTS used to have unbelievable turn in and would have to be provoked hard to understeer at speed but these things just squeeled and ran wide all the time...better than the pilots in the wet though.

Wink

So you wouldn't recommend them now you have a Scooby ?

F1's I think, as I found Toyos a bit harsh on my A4 Quattro

I probably would'nt risk paying £400 to find out. Maybe they would work well on the scooby but on the basis they sucked on the Saxo I'll stick to tyres that people suggests work well on the scooby.
