Question

Are there different types of this tyre. I have these fitted on my Impreza. The 'PZero' on the tyre is black and part of the sidewall. Two friends also have these tyres fitted and the 'PZero' is yellow and red respectivley.

Are these different compounds or just cosmetic?

James

AFAIK there are 2 tread patterns - asymmetrico & direcztional

Not sure if there are any compound or other feature differences.

(or whatever other weird spelling Pirelli came up with!)

PZero System: is used for RWD cars and consists of Pzero Asimmetrico at the back and Direzionale at the front(which helps aquaplannig). Alternatively you can use PZero asimmetrico on f and rear. Exeptionally good in the dry (very hard sidewall and incresingly better grip with warming up of the compound) and average in the wet. Its quality drops suddenly at 70-75% of (TWI) life.

Pzero rosso: newer that above is better on the wet but worse in the dry. Tyre wears out quikly.

PZero Nero: the last to be produced. I never tried it, but it's supposed to be an excellent performer in the wet and a very good in the dry.

I've also found it (the Assimetrico) to be a good road tyre.
No experience on track with them yet.

Had Rossos - fab in the dry, but to be painfullly honest they were not fab in the wet - in some situations they were actually pretty scary.

All IMHO natch...

The PZero rosso are not a sports tyre
PZero yellow are a sports tyre ( a very good one)
PZero nero are just out, no idea of how good they are
PZero corsa are a semi slick tyre (too expensive)
PZero System is a combination of direzionale and assimmetrico for RWD cars.
PZero yellow assimmetrico is what you need on an Impreza.
