I need to replace SO2 tyres on my MY00.
I'm thinking that if I want to change wheels, now is the time to do it.
Question: What are the pros and cons of 17" wheels vs 18"??
Ignoring the cost, what are the other differences?

[Edited to say I would prefer to get 5 spokes with large gaps rather than multi-spoke - any suggestions - wheels MUST be silver for my silver car]

Fubar,
Can't give you much info about 17 or 18 as I don't have either yet, only comment is 18's are a fair bit heavier so suspension may need changing accordingly.
As for type ? again it's a personal thing, but like you I prefer the 5 spoke designs rather than the multi spoke. I quite fancy some Mille Miglia Evo's or some Momo GT2's. Iv'e had Mille Miglia Spyders on my Audi for 3 years and they still wash up like new, the Momo's look even better quality but cost more.
When you decide I'd like to see some pics as I'll be getting a silver MY00 in about 2 months and will be changing the wheels asap.

Just fitted 17 oz superlegerra thingys on my silver turbo.
205/40.

car feels much nicer to drive quicker turn in and feels more composed on long sweepers.

bit bumpier tho and more road noise (p zeros)

looks great in anthracite IMO.

Cool

B4 you buy ANY, have a look at the ones on the TSL site in 18". They're lighter than an equivalent 17", and stronger, due to being forged, then machined. Brilliant looks if you like big gaps too. Wish I'd seen 'em b4 I bought my 17's.
E-mail trouser@tsl.co.uk for further info., or give him a ring. Really nice guy to deal with.
