Toyo v Goodyear ... help?

Read the evo article, but......
Huge diff in price between the Proxes and the Eagles and would really like to hear a longer term view on the Toyos from someone who has lived with them on their scoob. Heard only good things and need to get rid of these SO3's before I kill myself!
Anyone lived with the Proxes for a while on std 16" on a my99??
Please don't come back with the "never scrimp on tyres" line as I am totally prepared to buy the Goodyears, but would be equally prepared to save £45 a tyre if the Toyos are as good as they say.
Plus... the evo mag tested all these tyres on a Focus and I am positive (although they very well tested) the results may have differed had they been on a scoob?
Thanks in advance

I have had toyo's (15's) but not on a Scoob and I would say they are good unless you put them on decent powered car.... I have just bought the new F1's but they are due to be fitted on Sat...
I only ever hear rave reviews about the F1's so thought I would give them a try...
In my post on Tyre Prices... I can get you a better price on the goodyear than stated..... they are to be changed! Call Jon on Friday for a price.... even if you dont buy from him you will get a price to go to someone local with!
After all that is what its all about!!

I have Toyo Proxy's on my STI4 now.
Had them for about 1500 miles and I am very happy with them.
I've had the following before:-
Bridgestone S02s (3 sets)
Pirelli Pzero (1 set)
Goodyear Eagle F1 (1 set)
Personally I think the Toyos are the best of the bunch, but I don't think they will last a particularly long time as they are very sticky.
I've tried the Eagles on my Westfield Seight as well and I think they suit 2 wheel drive cars, but dont think they are as good as the Toyos on the 4wd config.
I was particularly impressed with wet weather grip and the price, and also break away is smooth, progressive and above all predictable.
I paid £270 fitted and balanced including VAT (yes I do mean £270 all in, and I know that's very cheap, I got them at Humphries in Bagshot).

Had F1 last time and thought they were good changed to toyos 2500miles ago.
They took 800miles to scrub in and i thought they were crap up till then. Had thought about puting F1 back on but after 800 miles much improved.
Most of the miles have been in the dry and on my 20 mile drive to work on a & b roads i was happy with both tyres.
The toyos are cheep and I WOULD buy them again just wish the scrubed in quicker.
EVO mag if you take away the subjective scoring the toyos win.
hope this helps

I have had the Toyos on my my99 scoob with std alloys for the past 15k miles...
very good tyres!!
excellent in the wet.. feel better than the s02s i had before.
feel good in the dry too.
in both cases.. good grip.. and nice feeling of warning before sliding.
I havent seen a price for the F1s... i need to change the tyres in 2 months or so... and was thinking of getting more toyos or F1s...
if the price difference is big... ill go for more toyos with pleasure... tho when are they due to be replaced?

Micheldever tyres do 205/50R16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 for £87.47 inc. VAT and fitting. Where are you finding Toyo T1-S for £45 per tyre cheaper?

Thanks for all your comments. That has helped me decide on the Toyos and I'll stick with them till they bed in...

Haven't really shopped around re prices but have heard goodyears consistently pricey....local dealer said @ 80 for toyos (although can get them online for 60ish) and he quoted 130 for Goodyear!!! Typical scottish prices...!!!!
Thanks for all your advice
