Why buy a performance car and ruin the performance by stretching tyres?

Buy some wheels that fit mate

 

Thanks for the reply, what it actually is, I won some xxr 530 wheels, they are 8.75j et33 18" the tyres ive been told I need is 225/40 I was just wanting to see how it looks.

 

On an 8.75j rim you are looking at 235 minimum to be any good if you actually drive it properly.

Im running 235 on a 9j and really should have fitted a 245 but they didn't make them in the size I needed.

 

I got the impression that a bigger tyre may rub? I have a bugeye wrx

 

It very well may do. But a smaller tyre will seriously compromise the handling and comfort.

Let alone the fact every time you hit a pot hole you will probably end up damaging it. To put it in perspective a 225 would normally be fitted to a 7 or 7.5j rim.

I wouldn't do it personally but it's your choice

You will also need a full alignment set up with shed loads of camber to stop the rears from rubbing under load or hard cornering.

This will make it tramline all over the show

Check out my car, XXR527 with 8.75" wide wheels, 225/40/18 tyres, and surprisingly, contrary to some comments, handles, takes bumps and potholes and drives just fine.


Isn't stretched that much really.

Had no issues... Needed to roll arches at the rear but as said it doesn't feel nice at all compared to a wheel with the correct tyre size

I can second those comments, my previous Nissan had 215's on a 9" front rim and 225's on the rear 9" rims. Drove absolutely fine, handled well. No issues. (I'm not saying that it couldn't have handled better with wider tyres to suit, but in terms of comfort etc and durability...never had any issues )
