Ok so have Godspeed brake discs all round with Kevlar fast road pads.. Been excellent all my cars except I'm getting the feeling these arnt up to the job on my jdm

A few times I've had to stamp on wondering wether I'm going to stop ot not... As most know I don't track the car just the occasional fast road blast now n then although these arnt cutting it for me... One thing I will mention is there's hardly any brake dust and driving around town are awsome just don't fill me with confidence when giving it some

Ok so question is do I change the whole set up? Or try a different pad?

I like the idea of minimum brake fade, work from cold and no noise ie sqeeking... Anyone with any suggestions please? Am I ok just to change pad on same disc... Set up has only seen a few thousand miles

I've just recently put on Brembo HP sport pads, after bedding them in last night there by far the best pads I've tried. Discs look nice and dark from the even pad transfer and they work from cold and I couldn't get them to fade, even after 30 or so 70- 5 mph stops.

So far I'm very impressed!

Also slightly adjusted my brake pedal travel today and that's also helped make the brakes feel more responsive.

 

Orite mate, I got the Godspeed grooved discs which can cope with track perfectly fine!! As I was thinking of going for a 2 piece disc set up but after speaking to Ian he could of said no your better off getting better discs and I would of paid but he assured me that the grooved disc can cope with it just fine.

At the moment I'm running the CL5+ pads which on track and are absolutely amazing! but driving in normal driving conditions they are by far the noisiest pads I have ever heard especially at very low speeds.

So after speaking to AS Performance I have opted to change my pads to the PFC carbon metallic pads that they have for a very good price. Which have been given very good reviews, shouldn't be noisy in normal driving conditions and can cope with track days very well. But require a little bit of warming up before biting apparently.

One other thing have you got braided brake lines in?? as I found they made a big help when I had them put in.

Standard lines Greg, I could change them but think the pads still arnt upto the stopping is like..

As said I'll call Alyn this week want a pad ideally with as little brake fade as poss but that are better then the Kevlar pads for fast road blast..

I'm assuming I'm ok just to change pad and keep with my discs? I have the Godspeed grooved front and back and ideally don't want to fork out to replace these

I would 100% put braided lines in mate they did make a difference even with just the kevlar pads!! I'm having my pads fitted this week now so I'll let you know how these PFC carbon metallic pads go think the full set front and rears came in at 190quid posted so should be a good pad!!

either the PFC z's or the slightly more road refined B/sport pad Martin IMO............

we also have a high quality OEM material we find is far better than Kevlar stuff in most uses

 

Yes any pad will work with our grooved discs , at the end of the day , the kevlar pads are only the first step up from standard , and i've not yet tried an OEM pad that is better , and we are trying new stuff all the time.

Kevlar pads are aimed at those who use there cars as an everyday drive , and like to have a spirited drive now and again , for those that give it the full beans regularly will find the limits of them , especially with the heavier later cars.

Going to a better performing pad will have a trade off , whether its needing time to warm up before biting properly , or dust or noise , unfortunately there isn't a miracle pad available that is perfect everywhere , shame as we'd sell loads lol.

We sell the PF range of pads , along with Brembo sport , the PF Z rated I found quite wooden from cold , I only used them on the road , not the track in my old car , had quite a few customer say the same , and then many others say they like them , pads are a funny thing and quite personal in choice.

The Brembo sport pads I find good from cold , and will take a bit more heat than the kevlar pads , but they cost a lot more so would expect them to work better , I did get fade out of these but the roads we have around here are very good driving roads , and that was me left foot braking keeping the boost up on the bends , so using the pads hard , I left foot brake in my WRC car on events a lot , and it certainly finds where the weak link is !

I use CL RC8 pads in my WRC car , and are the best pads I have every tried to date , these are only aimed at competition use or dedicated track cars as they are very harsh and noisy , would drive you crazy on the roads.

Appreciate your replies guys if I could afford ap's mate they'd be my first choice

Ian these are for fast road although the Kevlar are great normal driving they're not so great for me as a fast road pad.. My car is a daily aswell.

Alyn I'll give you a call when I can we can have a chat and see what my best options are
