Default WRX Tyre question

Guys - Upgarding my wheels to 18" but until that happens what can I get as I need new tyres soon? Got a WRX 2005 Blob with the standard 17" 5 split spoke alloys. Currently has 215/50 17 tyres on

Question is what size of tyre can I go to on a standard setup and wheels?

215/45 17 ?
215/40 17 ?

225/45 17 ?
225/40 17 ?

Thanks.

My 54 plate blob is on 215/45/17 and my snow tyres are 225/45/17 with no issues. I think as long as they r all the same size u should have no problems on any of those sizes although firstly I have never seen a scoob on 215/50/17 so that's interesting, and secondly I'm quite certain that 225/40/17 does not exist as I've been in the tyre business for last 8years. Hope that helps

Stock blob wrx is 215/45/17 and sti is 225/45/17
You can use either of then 2 without issues. I'd prefer 225 tbh
