Does anyone know what difference in ride height there would be between an Impreza running 16" wheels on 205/50 tyres and the same car running 17"'s. I know the theory in an ideal world if to change the tyre profile to keep the rolling radius the same but in reallity there will be some diffence. What does this equate to in ride height?

Thanks,

Andy.

If you can get a 205/50x17 tyre you would obviously raise the ride height by half an inch. Your speedo would read about 5% slow, too.

Why do you want to do this? Correct 17in tyre for a classic shape Scoob is 205/45x17 or more commonly 215/40x17. These sizes have performance advantages and keep the rolling radius the same.

Cheers,

Richard.

No - sorry, there was some confusion there. If dont want to run it on 17's with 50 profile tyres. What I want to know is if there is a difference in ride height between a car running 16/50/205's and a car running say 17/40/205.
The reason behind this is that I am looking to buy an Impreza. I have a friend who's car is running 17/40's and that will if into my underground garage (just) - I have found a nice example which has got 16/50/205's but is a little to far away to test the fit in the garage. If the car is gonna be lower on the 16's then it will not go into my garage.....

So does anyone know if there will be a difference?

About 1cm lower.

Now I see where you're coming from, the easiest way of making the car significantly lower is shorter springs. Eibach (and others) have springs that will lower the car by 30mm or more. Try a post in the Suspension section.
