Default 05 STi Pads

I have a widetrack STi and the time has come to to change my front pads. It's a standard PPP with the OE pads in at the minute. Now my question is do I just replace like for like or would it be worth the extra premium to upgrade them to something better and if so what is reccomended. I'm not planning on changing the disks as there fine and it's only for general road use and maybe a spirited drive now and again. I'm not wanting to spend a fortune but I'm happy to spend the extra (if it's worth it) on key essentials to keep her in tip top condition. Any help greatly appreciated 😄

For just road use something like the ds2500 or Mintex 1144s would be good upgrade.

Also I'd say change brake lines aswell as you'll get better brake pedal feel aswell

Get some PF-Z pads from Alyn at A S Performance. Had them on my blob before I upgraded to 8 pots and they were fantastic.

Thanks for the quick replys, I have a look at your reccomendations, has either of you tried the EBC Red Stuff pads as that's what the garage reccomended?
Changed the brake lines to what, braided lines? Sorry to sound vague but I've never really had an issue with the pads/ setup I have at the minute so unsure whether I'd see an advantage with my steady driving (generally) lol!

I wouldnt bother with EBC,Their rubbish.

Carbotec XP8 are awesome but very dusty and can squel quite badly so I'd buy Performance Fiction .11 Z Rated, haven't got the bite of XP8 but are still a great fast road pad. There are other opinions but their the 2 I would choose.

Cheers I'm going to price the PR-Z's up tomorrow as these seem to be a popular choice and as for dusty pads nooooo I'm a bit OCD about having clean wheels so they would drive me crazy, lol!

Thanks in advance

Cheers pal, that's sounds reasonable to me, like I said in my earlier post I want to keep the car as near standard as possible but I don mind spending the extra money in the key areas to improve the car

If it's just for road i'd just get some OEM or the kevlar ones godspeed do and get some braided lines as they'll make the breaks feel a lot nicer. You simply can't put the heat into the brakes on the road to warrant racing pads imo.

Yes it's just a road car and that was kind of my question in my first post, does it warrant better pads for general road use and would I even see any benifit? The stock setup does seem fine but not having used any others was keen to see what other people's opinion was?

A cheap option would be pagid Blues and will do the trick for your daily drives and the odd blast, a bit better would be brembo sport pads that's good enough for spirited drives, all the other ones will be too much for your use but you could just go for the 'upper' class pads for future proof.
Discs all have a different grey iron mix, you pay for what you get.

If it's just for road then don't get pads suited for track. (ones that need to be hot in order to work properly)

Driving along for miles without touching the brake pedal will make things interesting when asking a stone cold track pad to do some emergency braking from high speed.

I had PF-Zs on my blob with OEM brembo brakes for 2 or 3 years before upgrading to 8 pots. I never had a issue with them during normal road driving. They always had plenty of feel and never felt 'wooden'.
On track they were brilliant, even to the point of having an instructor at Bedford ask me what upgrade brakes I was using. They had masses of bite and no noticeable fade over 4 or 5 hard laps of the GT track.

OEM spec pads are just £24.99.

Personally I would go with these: http://www.superhids.co.uk/brakes/br...road-pads.html

All in stock whichever ones you choose
