Default a few questions and pics of new car

Well it's now home, so here are a few pics

not sure about the wheels, they are nearly new but I'd prefer std rims maybe if I paint them a different colour I'll be happier, gunmetal, bronze, gold??
although they do fill the arches nicely

Lexus lights aren't for me they'll be getting changed, should anyone want to make their Impreza look like a Lexus let me know I'd be happy to swap for some std items.

front bumper needs some fog covers and refitting, it's all loose.

interior is like the rest of it 'tired' a good clean will improve things.

engine bay isn't to bad, however the intercooler is mis-shaped and not even bolted down!! is the alloy STi IC a direct replacement?

in the above pic you'll a red silicone vac hose that goes from the inlet to the 'pressure source switching valve soleniod' thingy when got the car home I noticed this was disconnected, on re'connecting the idle dropped quite dramatically not quite stalling but deffo 'hunting' and less steady than with it disconnected, is this normal? I had it ticking over today and it seemed to be idling steady again although a little low, how do you rise the idle?

this pic shows the AC pump although no A/C is fitted?? is it wise to remove this or is it supporting the alternator?

The pics don't reveal the true condition, it's not pretty in the metal, but it's a starting point, anyone wishing to pop round and have a look at it in all it's dodgy glory then drop me a PM and I'll forward my address and get the kettle on, any advice most welcome, plus it would be nice for someone who knows about these things to give it a quick look over while it's still running and before I start with the clutch and then race prep.

Default intercooler

that intercooler is from a v1-v2 only you should have a straight one from 97-00 i would source 1 quick as that being not bolted down properly will cause you problems...

you can fit a alloy sti5-6 iirc straight bolt on sti8 will need modified slightly

SUBARU IMPREZA wrx standard intercooler version 3 & 4 on eBay (end time 03-Mar-10 16:20:09 GMT)

subaru sti intercooler on eBay (end time 19-Feb-10 18:05:25 GMT)

both these will bolt straight on to yours

hope this helps

thanks for that, there are so many different ICs it's difficult to know which is which and what fits what, but the one on main not only doesn't fit right it's out of shape so deffo needs replacing, I've just contacted the guy selling the STi item to see if he will let me send a courier to collect as he won't post, if not the WRX cooler is only £20 so that would do.
BTW is there much benifit in fitting a STi cooler over a WRX item?

which the most effective IC without going to a front mount? I've been watching a Japspeed replacement on ebay are they any good or is a Sti or later item just as good?

the alloy intercooler will look much nicer for sure but as for results in performance i doubt they are any different... yes any1 is better than the 1 on ur car they are **** i have a v1 and in the process in fitting a fmic on mine as fitting a intercooler from any other year is a complete nightmare

Brake fluid reservoir is a problem, but you'll be fiddling with them no doubt....

Carl's bringing it round tomorrow, so we'll checkout any clearence issues, shouldn't be to much trouble to raise it a bit to clear the Clutch cyl, if it's 'to' close, may have to trim the underside of the bonnet scoop so the bonnet closes but that's no problem
