Default 30-130 event at Marham

Hi Guys Mechell from the MLR here (don't shoot)

Just wondered if you knew about an event that has been arranged for you guys??? (lots don't seem to know about it which is confusing) - anyhoo It is on the 8th March 2009 at Marham...

bit of info

The "30-130 and Top Speed" event was created to stop all the pub talk surrounding tuning and to understand 'real world' performance, and which modifications / packages really work, and RAF Marham is the perfect environment with 2800 yards of immaculate tarmac!

How does it work?
Using VBox technology each car enters the start box below 30mph and then accelerates hard so it exits at over 30mph and continues to 130mph as quickly as possible. There are no more rules - just do whatever you think is the fastest way of accelerating to 130mph - and on to a max speed if you want - it's all about being as quick as possible!

The GPS data logging records everything your car does - you can have as many runs as you can fit in and try anything you like, such as in gear times, 0-60, top speed, brake tests, etc and review all the data later, but for the purposes of this event we'll pull off the valid 30-130 times and top speed and display them on the results leaderboard throughout the day.

We've measured a few different cars over the years to put things into perspective - although we haven't measured a Scoob yet!

Simon Norris - Evo9SWB - 6.19
Porsche 911 Turbo (X50) - 13.44
Porsche 911 GT3 - 15.73
Ferrari 360 - 16.14
Skyline GTR32 - 20.01
Monaro - 33.91
Honda Accord Type R - 40.64

Here's the result from previous MLR 30-130 events;

2008: http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=193235&highlight=30-130
2007: http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=142890&highlight=30-130
http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=176361&highlight=30-130
2006: http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=107758&highlight=30-130

I thought it was being run through SIDC but can't seem to find much info about it - and without you it can't happen

MLR info is here if you need it * * * 30-130 is back! * * * - Mitsubishi Lancer Register Forum this could be the last time we can get onto Marham as they are suffering noise issues like everyone else...

Not wishing to step on any toes here or elsewhere - just I can't find any info that you guys should know!! Please excuse me if it is already about and I'm just not seeing it..

Hope to see some of you there

Hi Mechell, I wasn't aware we had anything organised!

However, I'm sure if anyone is interested, they will pop a comment on here

6.19 Holy Moly...

I always thought the TOTB was the one to cover most of the aspects from a tuners perspective....

This may miss the point totally, but surely though the Norris SWB is a one off special and doesn't truly represent the road car... It's a stunning showcase for the Misti and Simon's skills, but like a Rally, GT or BTCC car they don't resemble a road car in the sense of someone nipping to a tuner to simply buy...

Yeah - Simons is deffo a 1 off and is there just for show really.

Hopefully the Zen car and maybe Olly might come along to your day (if we get the interest to make it happen?? ) Zen is showing more than a passing interest!

If the timing gear clocks past the hour the Wildtrack may well come in last

I bet this is a pretty impresive spectacle too

Get yourself booked in everyone, really good day out, and can see what your cars running true and not on paper, gives some nice real world figures.

Would love to, but unless the timing gear works in days and weeks, the Fezza is not going to be able to set a time

I do have something that would set a quick time, but doubt they'd let me on two wheels

30-130 Sunday 8th March 2009

VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE:
EVERYONE (Drivers and passengers) MUST bring Photo ID on the day or you will not be allowed onto the airbase. (Driving license or Passport – no exceptions!)
DRIVERS must bring their Driving Licence - photo ID and paper parts

Event Timetable:
* 07:30 - Gates open - register with Security.
* 07:45 - Driver and Passenger Registration / Car number and wristband collection
* 08:30 - Drivers briefing (mandatory)
* 09:00 – Sighting lap
* 09:30 – Event start
* 12:30 – Lunchbreak
* 13:00 – Event restart
* 16:00 – Event close

On The Day
:
We’ll use the full length of the 1.5 mile / 60m wide runway of super smooth tarmac. The event will be fully marshalled and include paramedic cover to ensure it runs safely. Food will be managed by the RAF who'll be based alongside the MLR ’30-130 paddock’.

All cars will be fitted with a Racelogic V-Box in front of the MLR unit to record your car's performance. Cars will run one at a time and will have to start within a designated area for the run to count. Having completed a “30-130 run” all drivers will be able to go on to complete a top speed run if they want. It’s not compulsory but you may not have a better, safer and legal way to find out your car’s straight line performance. The next car will be released when car No.1 has passed the halfway mark on the runway.

Once the car has returned to the Paddock and the VBox removed, it can be driven onto the corner weights at the rear of the MLR unit to be weighed. Your 30-130 time and top speed result (if applicable) will be displayed at the MLR unit as soon as Dave has downloaded the data from your runs.

Helmets

Helmets must be worn by all occupants - drivers and front seat passengers

Fire Extinguishers:
All cars must have a fire extinguisher fitted - preferably in an easy to reach place, eg: in front of the passenger seat. This will be checked on the day and any cars
without extinguishers will not be allowed to run

Noise Limit:
Noise from motorsport has now become an issue, and although it’s understood that running a single car at 30-130 is not the same as running 20 cars together at a trackday, noise monitoring will take place on the day if required but they will be as lenient as possible but we are not allowed unsilenced exhaust systems or “excessively noisy” cars. The static noise limit is 105dBA (measured at ½ metre, 45 deg, ¾ revs)

Rear Spoilers:
For reasons of safety, cars must retain their rear spoilers and blade, unless fitted with a carbon bootlid or similar which does not allow for a rear spoiler

Passengers:
Only front seat passengers are allowed and must be 16 years old or over. There is no charge for passengers, but they must complete an indemnity form and wear a wristband

Litter:
It is
ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that no litter or cigarette ends are dropped anywhere other than a bin. Failure to observe this simple rule seriously jeopardises us being invited back, so please use the bins provided (or your pockets!)
Spectators:
All spectators must come with drivers already booked in as we are only allowed a maximum of 60 cars onsite during the day. Please do not forget you need to be security cleared too, so please send me your details for Security clearance

Video Cameras:
All video cameras must be securely mounted internally via suction mounted or bolted to a rollcage. No hand held cameras are allowed.
Video is for personal use only and is not permitted to be shared on the internet.

Photography:
Cameras are permitted for personal use only, no professional or commercial photography is allowed.
Photographs are for personal use only and are not permitted to be shared on the internet.

Rides:
30-130 wouldn’t happen without the help of the volunteers who marshal and support the event – all of whom are petrolheads and would sell their sister (or brother) for the chance to own the cars attending the day. If you’re happy to give them a ride in your car please let me know as it would be good to give something back

Last but not least:
A huge thank you to Peter and George and their respective teams who continue to make this event possible

Contact Number
Darins mobile number is 07971 424472 if you have any problems, but we will be traveling from the 6th March, so only able to deal with queries that can be done over the phone.

Post code for RAF Marham is PE33 9NP.
