Default any ideas?

Hi
Dont know if any of you have any ideas what this could be but, took the car out for a drive yesterday and when pulling back in the drive i heard a strange noise coming from the passenger side under the wheel arch. It sounded like something catching or clicking like a dry noise of meatal ! . Took it out today into the street and when driving it can be heard and when steeering it can be heard louder. Its hard to describe the noise but it sounds like something is dry or rubbing . Ive looked under the car but cant see anything obvious.im on nights so i cant have another look until tommorow but any ideas would be a good start.
cheers
wayne

I'd go for a wheel bearing. Sounds just like mine did.

Thanks for the replies guys, i had the wheels off today and couldnt see anything obvious that could cause the noise. i put wd40 all over the moving parts and took it out for a spin and the noise had gone, but after a while when the car was warm the noise came back. Sticky how do icheck if it is a wheel bearing and if it is where do i get one from ,or is ot better to go to your paddy and ask him to do it.
cheers

Our kid would be able to sort it, as would Rick at RE, the Precious metal guys, Clinic, etc.

You're probably better off shopping around for the best deal, but get them to confirm that it IS the bearing before having the work done.

Just a quick update on the weird noise on my car..............yep it was a wheel bearing as you said sticky, to be honest i have never heard a wheel bearing make that noise ever and even the garage that did the work said it was pot luck trying a new bearing as they had never heard a noise like it before. Anyway its fixed now so cheers for that.

Think I'm gonna be needing another. No noise (yet) but getting some serious pad knock-off under hard acceleration (not that I do any)

I hope it doesnt sound like mine did. I thought the front end of the car was going to snal in half. 6 different people looked at mine and not one had ever heard a wheel bearing make that noise.......anyway if i hear it again at least i will know what it is.
Sticky not sure if i saw you or not near the crossings but i did see you a couple of weeks ago i think as i was waiting to pull onto the main road out of our street just by the chippy near the green lane club.
cheers

Mine sounds like my back in the morning.... creak, creak

On the ramps at 50 mph you can see the wheel wobble !

Rick reckons that 7 out of 10 knacker the hub.

Not Laughing now,
