Stelvio Fraud
Apart from that final Shell with the outside card payment machine that attempted to take £100 from my Debit card (thankfully blocked by my bank) my statement shows every thing's OK.
Hope you others weren't affected either. If so, you should be able to claim back through the credit card company. Debit card owners should also be able to claim back fraud as my Lloyds account protects me.
If this fails then try the holiday insurance you forked out 7.99 for...

Bascially the pumps were the kind where you put your card in and it takes the payment instead of going into the shop. The guys that used the pumps got a message in french along the lines of nul/void etc so they removed their cards and tried again. Turns out they had a large amount of money deducted from their accounts. Seems like the card machines in the pumps over there are rigged.
It was a Shell service station on the motorway.

Cheers Rich, we're setting off on Sunday 21st and I want to get through France asap to avoid using these pumps (if they'll take my card anyway) - can you remember roughly where this rip off Shell station was en-route?
We're going via Basel, then Lake Garda for a couple of days before heading to Stelvio and Davos - finally across to the Nurburgring. From the photos of your trip looks like we're in for a fantastic time

I didn't go on the trip but was told about it. It was on the way back to the ferry port to come back to the UK. imf1 told me about it, he said it was around France/Belgium border, he couldn't remember exactly where.

Andy. Rich is spot on. The station (in Belgium BTW) was busy with locals and some of the pumps had these automated machines where you either pre-paid for fuel or simply filled up and the card was charged. Most garages seemed to have them.
Some locals ahead of us and behind in the queue seemed ok. But, all of us who tried Brit cards had them rejected. Then pretty much straight away, 150 euros was removed. My Bank rejected it thankfully but others didn't fare so well.
One / some of the group were also hit at a Shell in Geneva by the girl serving.
Possibly others too... so it looks like European franchises are pretty dodgy.
Hotels and restaurants were OK.
Our tip would be to take and pay by cash for everything, especially fuel.

Just waiting on my statement to come through. Phoned the bank on Saturday, and they read out a few transactions that were not mine
Running total so far is around £300, including a couple from that Shell, and some from earlier on. One of my genuine ones has come out as more than it should too. My 23 euros of fuel from midday Friday has gone on my card as £50

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I intend taking cash for all my payments other than the more swanky hotels we're staying in on our trip! (ok so they're not swanky at all )
Thanks again

The pre pay systems are easy to fix and for people to clone cards from, also the chip and pin machines have also been known to be swapped for ones that read your card and again clone it, always better to pay by cash

Andy got done at that one, bank just investigating at the mo and got loads of forms to fill out!!
I think its the operators inside
They must get it all the time on the way to the ferry and Ian TOLD the guy inside he needed fuel and he WAS going to pay inside and sign instead of putting pin in and they did it for him so they could have done it for the rest!!

And your point is ??
Seriously though my Visa card was "anulled" at the same pump as Andy, but mine didn't ask for my pin but Andy's did. No dodgy transactions on my card have come to my notice, so good old Egg !!
I'd rather use my card and fight the consequence than put hard earned money in and maybe get **** all, what would you do then ??
Your card is protected, your cash aint
Well thats my two penneth
