Exclamation Scoobs being targeted by thieves in the Wakefield area!

I was woken up at 03:10 this morning by the sound of an alarm which I very quickly realised was the one on my car

Took a look out the window to see my car sat on the drive with the drivers door wide open , had a look around from inside the house and couldn't see anyone, went downstairs to get a better look from down there and still nobody about so turned the alarm off.

I have to say I was pretty reluctant to go outside to the car for a while in case they were hiding out there waiting but eventually after a good check around from various windows it all looked OK so we went out for a closer look. Absolutely no damage on the car at all, not a mark, so I have no idea how they got the door open but it was a relief not to find any damage.

The police have been round this afternoon and advised that Scooby's are being targeted at the minute in this area and advised that we be extra vigilant for a while. Apparently some poor guy in Wrenthorpe who has 2 scoobs has had the thieves back round his house twice trying to get in and get the keys

So just a heads up for anyone in or around Wakey, keep your wits about you and be suspicious of anything unusual, don't let the b******s get away with it

Barry close call glad it's still there and ok. I've heard of thieves setting alarms off to get you to go out with the keys to switch it off then jumping you - so your caution was a good idea.

After my fun and games last weekend I've been adding even more security to the house again.

Seems like there must be a common weak point on the classics then for getting the door open

As for immobilisation I have every confidence that mine wouldn't be going anywhere unless they hoisted it onto a flatbed , which makes me think they hadn't targeted my car and it was more of an opportunist attempt which is something to be thankful for at least.

Hopefully now they've been in it and seen what they'd have to get past to get it they'll not bother coming back and try and find an easier target elsewere.

glad theres no damage.

how about microwave alarms do they work?

they go off when someone or something gets with 1-2 meters of the car maybe ideal early warning system.

I Put a Clifford Alarm on my old saxo and had it fitted with proximity sensor that was quite good, but guaranteed youll get pissed off with it if you live where ppl pass close by it a lot, mine was really sensitive it would go off if anything passed within three feet of either side of the car quite a loud beep too enough to put anybody off
