Angry Engine Management Light!?

Hi Guys,

Got me a 52plate bugeye Sunday, drove it for a few miles then wack! CEL came on! wasnt giving it any stick at all! I was actually doing 30mph in 4th (car struggled a little as I was in the wrong gear) soon as it stuggled the CEL light came straight on?! Any ideas? Going to try get it diagnosed tonight? A little worried as it could be serious!
Drives fine...boosts fine? no difference in engine and sounds ok?
Hopping just the o2 sensor or something silly? but as iv only had it since 1pm yesterday im a little concerned!
Also the lad drove 300miles to get to me and it wasnt on when he arrived?

Just an update...engine light was still on this morning, went to work still on, went to the shop and still on....then got back into it and it went off? have used it since and still not on? Dirty sensor maybe or o2 sensor playing up maybe?
Just happy its not stayed on! Will still get it checked tonight!!

go buy a ELM327 bluetooth device and if you have a android phone, buy the app for £3/£4 (its called Torque), will diagnose your CEL light and tell you exactly whats up.

Along with monitoring every sensor you have too, its a MUST have tool to save you quids

Hi Carl! Just bought me one off ebay for £15.90 didnt go for the cheapest as you normally get what you pay for!! Bought the cabled one so I can plug it into the laptop rather than use bluetooth. I have an iphone 4s so cant get that app anyway? Thanks for pointing those out to me never seen them before and was going to get the diagnostic tool which is about £60 plus! So uv saved me a few quid already! Thanks mate!

the app is on the iphone but its quite expensive! its call REV on the iphone and is about 20 or 30 quid (bit of a rip off me thinks), but if you got laptop access then its all good gravy!

glad i could help

the code was P0463 - Fuel level sensor circuit high input. Think this is a connection problem to the fuel sendor. At least its not serious! =)
Panic over!
