Does you wife know
Talking about people blagging their mum, my mate was an apprentice leccy in the Dockyard in Plymouth, on YTS pay. His mum took between £5 and £10 a week off him for keep. She thought it would be unfair to take any more off him. In his second year, his pay went up a bit, to £50, but his keep remained the same. What a lovely mum.
He never told her in years 3 and 4 his pay went up to £15k a year! Last thing I knew, he wis still paying a tenner a week! God knows how she thought he could afford a concours Mk1 Escort GT and a brand new ZXR750!

Luckily my missus doesnt know the full value of parts, I bought a brand new set of 18" alloys. I didnt tell her I bought them instead I told her that I swapped them with my mate for my standard rims because he really wanted them.
In my defence if I didnt spend the money then she would probably waste it on a wardrobe full of shoes or something

I always find honesty is the best policy!! i mean take my missis, she asked me "How f*****g much was thet new Splitter thing?" so i answered "£99 love", job done, she failed to ask about the delivery, spray job on it or the fitting, so i never told her.
If you dont ask the right questons you dont get the right answers!
Just as when the car went to mark for some work, she asked "How much did the service cost then?" "£50" i answered, she failed to ask about the cost of the new turbo, injectors, tmic or remap, so obviously i decided not to offer that information. The fact that she wouldnt know what a tmic was if it jumped up and bit her on the ar$e is neither here nor there, she asked a question and i answered it honestly.

i dont have a wife so i dont have to lie. and any girl i meet i quite happily tell her that the money i was going to use for flowers contributed towards my new parts. (maybe thats where im going wrong)
only person i dont really tell the true costs of something is my Parents.
but in all fairness they dont ask that much so i dont really have to tell them

What I have spent on my motor is entirely insignificant to what my girlfriend (aka Imelda Marcos II ) has spent on shoes, clothes & bags
Even so, as a general rule I generally tell her it cost half of the actual value
However, I did come 'unstuck' last year when I foolishly chose to have a parcel delivered to her place of work ( HKS SSQV Dump Valve ). She being a woman (and consequently very nosey) opened it and googled the price of the valve therefore uncovering the true price!
Schoolboy error..........one I have not made since lol
