Hi all - just signed up with Pipex ADSL and they are offering a free ADSL modem, in exchange for an old external 33,600 modem in working order with cables etc.

Anyone have an old one spare somewhere in the North West that they would be willing to offload for a tenner or so?

define working,

mine has just packed in , its an external , all light up power cables etc, but when you hook up windows will not identify, so something internal has went , but its immaculate and all external led's work,

only way they would find out was if they actually connected up to a system

Ian, hence the 'near' Burnley

Mobile is 07970 194022 if you are up this way.

DJD - will get back to you tomorrow or Sunday

Jase - they are going to charity so it would probably come back in the end I need to check at my dads tonight as I may still have one.

Simon,

Will see if I can find you one!

I have this ADSL modem and I use Pipex, but I got it before they were handing them out for free. Anyway, good little modem and I luuurve ADSL, it's rapid.

Nah, not really any problems, a couple of times when they had network trouble when I first got connected (early March), was BT's fault (allegedly), but has been fine ever since.

Really fast connections and downloads, takes aboout 2-3 secs to dial up then *always* connects, superb pings for gaming and you can leave it connected for ever if you want. Connected over Easter on the Friday morning, queued up a load of stuff to download then went to the lakes for the weekend with the GF, got back on Monday afternoon and had a huge amount of stuff waiting for me.

Would go nuts now if I couldn't get it.

Will be sorted if you can get ADSL where you live as that is one of the criteria when I buy a house, must have ADSL!

Going to look at a house just round the corner from you this weekend, so we could be neighbours soon mate!

Have to let me know if you can/cannot get it...

Rick

Just had the confirmation through that everything is OK with the BT line etc - activation date is 29.05.02, but I have to wait a bit longer for them to send me the free modem

Email me about the house, and where it is

Simon
