Ive rebuilt a few 
enough to know and tbh i wouldnt fit any engine without checking the map (fueling and timing) in any rebuild.....
Do it correct once, otherwise it will cost you more in the long run......

If your going to get it mapped, get a STi block.
Obviously if your not going to map it, stick with the WRX block.
RE: mapping, I believe an Open Source map is quite reasonable compared to ECUtek.
