Default wanted part exchange-uk classic scoob 98-00

Hi
Last june I bought myself a 52 plate vw golf gt tdi 130 after 4 years of subaru ownership.
The golf is a brilliant car, its just come the time when i need a scooby again even after getting 50+mpg easily out of the golf.
If anyone is interested in a p/x on my golf for a uk classic 98-00 let me know.
I bought the car for £4900 last year, it is red, has 107k on the clock and is in very nice condition except for a small dent above fuel cap and a few scartches in places.
It is the 6 speed, 130 bhp model and they still seem to fetch around the £3900 mark privately in this spec.
I am from the shropshire area and would prefer not to travel too far, even with a diesel :-)

Hmmm I could be interested, but mileage is a bit high for my liking. What history is with it? Is it Full? and by whom? Thanks.

upto 60k the service history is stamped by various VW dealers. At 69k it was serviced by A&B autos. Serviced again at 81k. Serviced at 96k by trade up motors and on the 6th jan 2009 it had a oil and filter change by VW wrexham. It had a 80 point inspection done on it when I bought the car and has since been looked after by my mechanic who is a vw specialist but no stamps.
The next service which will include cambelt is due at 120k ive been told.
It also has a mot till nov.
Im aware that the 130bhp models of these cars will go on forever when looked after

Have you got any details of your car?

I've run a PD130 engine before, and agree they do go on forever, if serviced properly. I'm not 100% on letting mine go, and true market value is a grey area. It's a 1999 uk turbo, 51k genuine miles, mica blue, full black leather, st2 18" rims, electric sunroof, A/C, prodrive suspension, prodrive q/shift kit. This was all factory standard spec. Only mods I have made are a turbo back H&S and a k&n panel filter. Pics in my garage.

I wasnt 100% sure when I decided to get rid of my subaru for the golf, and as much as I like the golf ive always wished I was still driving the subaru.
Im really going to miss the cheap tax and good to excellent mpg of the golf, but you have a think about wether you do want to get rid of your car before you start pining for another one like me, just being honest.
If you want any more pics of the golf including the dent just let me know and ill get you some.
Have a think about it because im in no real rush as im going to hold out for a nice one and not just any old one. But yours does look a fine example of how they should be.

5 years ago when I got my first subaru I always said Id never have a green one, but that looks really nice, very nice.
The only problems I can see are the distance between us (im assuming) and the price.
You want £3000 cash price dont you? I dont think I could do a straight swap as I would be losing some money on the deal.

I thought I would ask the question. I have just reduced it by £500 as I want a diesel for my surf wagon before the water gets warmer.
If you change your mind let me know, I can drive to you.
If not then good luck with the search, whack it on Pistonheads and I am sure you will get a swap in no time!!!!

I'll bear the offer in mind mate, but I dont think I could really let it go without at least a bit of money my way but thanks for the offer.
Thanks for the tip on pistonheads, ill try that one out as I wasnt really in a rush to get a scoob back, but everytime I see one the sooner I want one.

Anyone else interested?
This is a brilliant all round car which has even returned me 60+mpg
After checking the usual sites this model in red and similar miles is still fetching £3900-4200 so this is a car which will still hold its value
The subaru itch is getting quite bad now for me lol
Am willing to P/X for a cheaper subaru as stated but obviously not a straight swap is there is a big margin in value

Any more interest on this before I put it up on pistonheads etc?
I would love a subaru off a member off here as you really know your scoobs which can only be a good thing.
Had a trip to birmingham in it yesterday and it hardly went below 60mpg, anyone thinking off getting a more economical car which still has some poke in it, this is the car for you :-)
