soory to jump on guys,i was told i needed one,im fittin a boost controller to my03 sti type uk,i thought that the standard couldn't cope wit the 255lph walbro pump,r do i just need one cause im usin a boost controller and not gettin it mapped,cheers for ur help

it's a tunner over here in northern ireland,il name no names but im sure u can figure it out,was goin to git him to fit it cause i hadn't a clue how to go bout it,but he's not that cheap,i had seen i think a post on here wit someone sayin the standard couldn't flow the extra fuel that would b needed,im fitting the boost controller myself,its a greddy profec b spec 2,recomended by the same man but bought for alot less from america,lol,but im gonna take it to him to git set up right and dynoed,could u tel me wot the standard turbo is capable of,cheers

pretty much top whack would be 350bhp, but most will be around the 330-340 mark.

To put his comments about not flowing enough fuel, i currently run 800cc injectors, and the standard reg is still on there.

this tunning is a total mine field,so many different opinions,im pritty new to the whole thing so not sure wot does r doesn't work yet,but im gonna take ur advice and forgit bout the frp,the moneys better in my back pocket,he has enough,lol,one more question,have u ever heard of people havin problems wit the turbo when they remove both cats?

yes - it overboosts unless mapped on a newage. This can be a severely expensive problem.

it has been fine for nearly two years

Mapping prob be done late this month or early next, its not really going anywhere at the mo anyway

i have one cat out of my 03sti and he say's that the boost contoller will stop the over boosting,is this right?he then said that if i took both cats out it wouldn't have enough back pressure or somethin and could damage the turbo,is this right?cheers

its not only the turbo that would be damaged.

what would happen to your engine if the turbo tried to put 1.9 bar of boost through it? maybe nothing.... but ....

that was my worry at the start when iwent to c this guy and he said they fitted boost controllers rather than remappin,but he assured me that with the first cat removed and the second one left in he could set it up and it would safely run around 300bhp and similar figure for torque,there aren't as many tunners over here as u have the plesure of on the main land,lol
