yep, 2.5 would be nice, but not sure if budget would stretch at moment what sort of price

Wsa looking to get 2.0 rebuilt as cheap as to get car running, then build a 2.5 as project when funds allow and over time.

Yep all of the above, so weighing up costs of whats cheaper option ... 2.5 allready built up so could save something on labour there

My block needs some work I'm told as has wear in the bores
(allready have RCM pump)

Well i forgot gaskets in that list, but you'd need them for the 2.5 too.

Unless your lucky and you do find the parts above, for much cheapness, then i'd go for the 2.5 just now, as the cost is gonna be too similar.

Have you got prices for a 2.5 from suppliers in the UK?

Thanks for the responses...
No concrete figures for a 2.5 no, I have see figures of around £1500 but not investigated if these are withVAT added or need to add that. Are all the ones offered by the likes of RCM, scoobyclinic etc all the same or do they differ

Going to do the work myself or know somebody that can do it, just need to source the parts for them.

Obviousy they have been putting them in the us ones for a few years and now the uk ones now have 2.5 are they all the same engines, I'm worried some unscrupulous person may try and sell me or i would mistakenly buy a forrester or legacy one or again are they all the same

Cheers

Been offered a STI 8 bottom end with 30k and sti 7 bottom end via pm

If you posted pics of the 2.5 block, we'd be able to let you know if it defo is an EJ257 or not.

I hope the STi8 or 7 are good prices...
