i think it stands for mass air flow sensor. basically its the sensor thats in the air intake pipe just behind the airbox and it measures how much air that is going into the engine and its temperature and tells the ecu so that the fuel ratio can be kept correct

yep. i have seen a lot of threads refering to problems on 98/99 scoobs with induction kits. saw a thing showing the filtration of some of these things. scary, i wont be putting one on my new car.
