Hi guys,

Going to France this w/e for 2 weeks. Need to make swift progress from Calais to La Rochelle and back (driving over night). If anyone could lend me their detector to keep me safe on the French motorways I'll be most grateful.

Many thanks in advance!

Andrei

Be very careful as they are not legal in France and there are stories of heavy fines and confiscated units

Phil, thanks, I know. Will train my wife to remove and hide it very quickly in case of any trouble. I also heard that the fines for speeding are pretty heavy too

Not woth taking, if they find one in your car they will confiscate it and fine you £500 (euro equivalent) whether you were using it or not. Do as I did and leave it at home. OK, I got caught speeding at 142 in a 90, cost me £99 (135 euro), no points, no big deal, and this was approaching Cherbourg where they are notorious for catching us Brits, should have known better.
By the way didn't have any money on me so followed Gendarme to bank 5 mins away and procurred some readies from the hole in the wall

Sounds like a costly thing to do -- a fine plus buying a new detector for the kind soul that lets me borrow theirs.
