A mate is looking for a mk 2 Escort to buy to convert into a rally car (he's already got the 16v XE Vauxhall engine ).

He's after a 1978 to 1981'ish 2 door model, flat front (not RS2000), rot free, auto if possible (big transmission tunnel).

Anyone got one stuck away in a garage that you'd like to sell or know where to find one ?

i have got one, unfortuantly it is a 4 door, but the rear doors can be welded resulting in a stiffer shell.

it is about 50K GENUINE miles, on second owner (brought it for numberplate), NO RUST WHAT SO EVER. seriously, it is the cleanest one i have ever had.

I've checked and it has to be a 2 door mk2 (for weight). I like the mk1 but it's not my car !
