dont go win 98 and dont even think about xp, if your looking for a stable environment that dont crash everytime you use a scanner etc load up win 200 pro from a clean boot of win 98, cos they have all the drivers etc.

 

I have 2 legitimate copies of Windows 98 if you are interested. They even come with licence codes

However I don't see what is wrong with Windows XP. I have had it installed for ages with out any problems.
