I've been to MOST of the recommended and popular tuning companies in my 3.5 years of scoob ownership (please note popular does not mean recommended and vice versa) and i feel compelled to write the following after a moment of phone rage whilst trying (and failing) miserably to order some parts.

is it just me or does one of the following happen on a regular basis :-

1. they have no idea what you are talking about and you find yourself having to explain just what a strut brace is (thats confidence inspiring!)

2. phone rings continually and you give up.

3. phone gets answered, but the person who can answer your question is not there (sometimes at this stage revert to answer 1, on other ocassions leave a message to be lost in a the dead sea of post it notes around there telephone/monitor etc)

4. send an email (just forget this one straight away, you might as well open a manhole cover and ask down there for the part your looking for, you're probably more likely to get a response from a passing piece of excrement)

5. be told its in stock, only for the order to mysteriously disappear and not arrive at your house till about the same sort of time that the company you purchased from has had chance to order more stock, how convenient. Never phone you up to say that they have lost your credit card details but they've shipped the item the same day do they! Yet strangely i can order an item on 24 hour delivery, it disappears, i get charged instantly and it takes a month for the bits to arrive.

6. Generally get treated as if the person on the other end of the phone that they are doing ME a REAL big favour and i should be very thankful/grateful that i've only had to make 10 phone calls, send 4 faxes and 8 emails just to get to talk to the person who knows what a strut brace is and has actually got the thing in the there hand (none of this due any day soon) and is willing to send it straight away, but by this stage there arritude is such that i feel more like placing that strut brace sideways up there rusty sherrifs badge.

Whatever happened to things like customer service etc?
I know its not just scooby tuners, but i have to say a quick call around some of them does make you wonder how you ever manage to sell anything!

For the record, the above opinion is my own, if you don't like it - tough. tell it to someone who cares, im off to get a job in a subaru tuning company so i can extract my revenge on poor sods who just want to spend money - HA who do they think they are asking me for an exhaust on a tuesday afternoon.

***The above has followed from three years ownership and the last four hours attempts to order some parts and is aimed directly at establishments like scoobysport, scoobymania, brd, rc developments, Power engineering, tuning japanese (aka sas), jw racing, falkland performance...... dont think i've missed anyone, im off for a lie down before a blood vessel bursts.

Question

Brassed off - I saw my name mentioned there, can you be as polite to tell me exactly when you tried contacting me and what the enquiry was about, as I am having difficulty placing exactly who you are and what enquirey I have missed?

Many thanks

Really? maybe ive just been involved in 'friday afternoon' orders then as the items i was looking at, took a helluva time to arrive, almost as if they were coming from another continent...

To be fair to JW racing my disapointment there has been limited to slow deliveries and items i was lead to think were in stock taking a time to arrive, he's a pleasant enough chap on the phone, seems to know what parts im talking about, so out of the points above hes not doing to bad only disapointing me on 1 count, which is a fair bit better than some of the old established firms!

Hmmm, well if I knew who you were it would help, email me offline if you don't want others to know otherwise understand that it is impossible for a company to have every item in stock and based on the majority of the items we sell, it is quite possible that they were from another continent.

I look forward to an email.

Have you tried TSL? I've had no probs with them, except that they often have bits in stock that you just HAVE to have, even though you never went for that in the first place!!! :
Sorry, Paul, only joking.

well theres very little that can be done now as its after the event, as stated above my observations have been based on 3.5 years of subaru ownership and buying parts etc so could easily have happened some time ago (the actual tip me over the edge phone call was not with you jw).

BUT if you are saying that when someone calls to order something that you don't have in stock (which i understand its impossible to have everything, no problems with that) do you (or any other companies) actually turn round and say, that item isn't in stock at the moment, it has to come from x and will take y days.

My experiences have shown its been more like -
give us your credit card details, thanks, it'll be sent out asap.

Leaving me with the misconception its going to arrive in the next day or so, then later finding out its coming from china on a pedalow with the pedaller having had his legs chopped off at the knees.

I can't speak on behalf of any other tuning company, but if the items are in stock they are generally sent the same day, if not then you would have been informed as soon as I knew.

It would help me a great deal in knowing exactly where this anomally happened, but I would be surprised if I hear from you.

most parts for these cars come from japan so it does take a while to ship over.

Been in the same boat to an extent had turbo and now got MY01 modded both to a large extent! I have delt with loads of after market suppliers

Yes i agree some companys can be disapointing but to mention J-W racing as one of them is in my opinion VERY MISLEADING to say the least.
On all occasions i have delt with Jamie at J-W he has been both helpful and knowlagble . I would not hesitate to recomeded J-W (and TSL as they were mentioned)

I am not in anyway conected to ether TSL or J-W racing i just can spot good service when i see it

Steve Emery long time scooby owner fan ect

then next week arrived
'will be here week after'
week after
'just clearing customs'
week after that
'oh i meant customs in japan, its still in transit'

not just you but other places as well, dont take it personally, just try your best its all you can do, just at the moment im amazed any of you manage to stay in business or can even manage to remember where your premises are!
am surprised you havent started emailing your customer base and asking them to post on your behalf, thats what normally happens from memory, better go check my mail and see if its arrived yet

LOL Brassed off check your mail, you wont have anything from me.

Also I'm sorry to say but your other comments above are totally inaccurate, I'm afraid this didn't happen, but as I have said before please let me know exactly what you are referring to.

Many thanks.

no, you are correct i imagined the whole thing lol.

i didnt see bmc air filters on your site or buying sold as some sort of new air filtering messiah, i didnt see your posts about aps dump valves and how good they were rofl for which you were royally flamed (and once again asked customers to come to your rescue) nor did i see it take weeks for cetain items to arrive, then when they did they were incorrect.

i imagined it all

My initial post was just to vent some stress, but seeing as you have taken this up as your afternoons 'MISSION' i look forward to seeing the next response.

Actually I don't remember describing the BMC filter as anything other than a very good air filter for its' purpose.

Your comments regarding APS dump valves are incorrect again, as I never actually received a flaming about them.

Now it would be great if you could pick your phone up and speak to me or drop me an email then we can discuss this thoroughly instead of hiding behind a fake user name and a computer.

I won't respond anymore to you, on thread, I'll let others do it for me. BTW did you find the rallying cry email I sent you? nope didn't think so!

Everyone - the cheques are in the post!

Lol at this thread, FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

I wanna see you two going head to head gladiator stylee hehehe

My 2p's worth:

I've tried and tried again to order parts from Various dealers to no avail, I wont mention business names but it gets on my nerves that I cannot find someone who is 'willing' to do business without any kind of hassle involved, I have spoken to 3 Different so called specialists recently trying to purchase an item that suits my needs only to be blagged off by some 15 year old thicket who knows sfa about Subaru's or the item I am trying to order.

On the flip side Jamie, I think you do ok, I've ordered parts from you before with no hassle, however you ARE a Geordie and that looses you big points :P you are also a bit of a tool and I do like seeing you being flamed LOL (Only joking mate!!)

Ive not yet found one mail order company that dont take the money and then dont give a **** about customer service... The worst two ever **IMHO ** Both begin with Scooby...

Gauges and pod that couldnt be returned that had to be sold second hand - loosing me £100... And placing an order for an up-pipe at a show then to be rung 2.5 months later saying "youve placed an order... could I take your card details... Erm No **** Off"

I've Finally Had enough of ordering parts online etc... Apart from Mark Aigin (R19KET)... He has done nothing but be honest with me.. (fuel pump and pressure reg) Posted them out to me, said when you recieve them ok send me a cheque... Too trusting! (I hadnt even met him then!)

I think from now on if I cant pick them up off the shelf and pay for them, Ill make them.

Im going to edit my post, as I should have at least spoken to Jamie first.. And after re-reading what I posted, It sounded as though I was having a go at him / his company which is not the case... I have ordered some parts but I am waiting for the rest, which I knew would be the case when ordering...

David

we all get cr@p experiences with mail order companies as it is the nature of the business, things go out of stock or they can just be incompetant.

I will put my 2ps worth in for JW though, i had hassle with some of the product i received from him, and from the point of taking my money to actually getting a product i could use was about 3 weeks !!!.

this wasnt Jamies fault, and he did send me a nice bottle of NOS Octane booster for the trouble, but he was always spot on in dealing with the issues.

i have dealings with other companies who have taken the money and never sent anything, even after chasing and it has been months before i've got my money back, and i've had companies who have taken the money said its in stock and its still been 3 weeks before i received anything (it happens to all of us).

why dont you put a post up which is the opposite to this, and ask people to recommend which companies they have had good dealings with for ordering parts, that may help you actually get the bits u want.

R.
