Default came off my car, but what is it

Might not be the best place to put this, but thought I'd try here first. (stick with local help first )

So last couple of days been hearing a strange sound when going over bumps and coming from front drivers side wheel. Not sure how to describe the sound at all, so won't try.
Pulled up today after work and put car on full lock. Looked in by the drivers front wheel and saw this thing hanging down.

Anyone know what this is??

(50p is there for scale, I know what that is!)

Edit,

Oh, its a off a blobeye

Had new caliper fitted just over a month ago. And funnily enough it was for that wheel too.

Was nice with no random tinkling sound on the drive to work on this "happy" morning.

That's it.... Look like some home made pice of kit to hang a caliper whilst removing brake disc or working on other bits in that area.

Stops the caliper hanging by the brake pipe

Oh, maybe I should take that bit back to David Coe.

Need to pop over since the new caliper has been clicking a bit.

That's pretty bad, leaving that in there. I'm guessing the garage is well known from the later comment
