Help out a South Wales Scooby newb!
Hi Guys, got myself a lovely mica red uk 2000 2 weeks ago, all was well car is mint some nice mods loved it, driving it home the other night, Bang...there goes the gearbox! It's currently in 3 Arches garage where dean has done an awesome job of taking it off checking it and needs a new one! I've spent all morning trawling the bay, this, pistonheads, gumtree but can't find anything! I'm after just a classic TY754 box, don't want a wrx one as then as i'm told i'll need the diff to. I'm in the Cardiff area so if anyone knows of one local, would get a newbie scooby driver back on the road!

Hey Niall
Apparently a Newage WRX box will be fine, as long as its a UK car as the ratios will be the same! Not sure about the Hawkeye ones as they are 2.5 but someone may correct me!
Any joy yet?

As above most newages have the same box, just make sure you get the rear diff with it.
They may have the same codes but its best to keep them matching.
For your info a TY754VN is a UK, and TY754VB is a Jap import, the N and B being the difference.
I prefer the Jap import boxes as they accelerate quicker, but are 10mph down top end. Most people blow them by trying to powerslide, 2nd gear and dip the clutch, this is a great way to kill them, as the car is setup to understeer from the factory, and you won`t have dccd to transfer power to your rear from 50:50.
Make sure when you fill the fluid to use good 75/90, and its filled up to the top mark on the dipstick.
