Hi All,

Just to let you know that on the 11th feb is probably the best rally event of the year.

May see you there.

Myself and dave will be there. First time to the wyedean so we have to decide which car park and stages to watch.

Any recommendations?

Hard to say exactly buddy, cos the stages are all a bit - or a lot - different to last year.

Carpark 'J' is pretty much the mid-point between all 3 morning stages. All 3 are very close together, but so are the start times, so it'll be a scramble to see as much as poss.

St 3 is a big one, we'll be staggering around in the woods there, somewhere

Last year, the Chepstow stage was inside the racecourse, but this year it looks like its not (racecourse carpark is where you can see the cars at service).

Theres been a bit of snow up the forest today, and it was frozen this morning with plenty of black ice on't roads so take care ...

... and purely for the sake of gossip - there was a murder up there last night. About a mile from the St 1 start! A love-triangle stabbing, with the purp being caught this morning!

Brass Monkeys mate! Been looking at my video clips - it looks even colder than it felt ... frozen solid... Especially difficult for the little 1400s going first. Seemed like a lot of retirements by the afternoon stages... I got a great clip of a Hawkeye trying to take out half a dozen spectators! I was hiding behind a tree, I can tell you

Was that the one that plastered everyone with mud just before a right hand corner?

fair play they were the worst conditions I have ever driven in ! I lost count how many times I spun , I think I qualified for my helicopter licence the amount of spins we had lol
We ended up skidding into a bank and breaking an outer CV joint on stage 3

Mat - It was at the St3 hairpin. Hawkeye went into the escape road beautifully sideways / backwards! That'll teach those people not to stand close to the red tape

Ian - You were driving this year? Please describe the car, I may have a video clip for you

I hope it wasn't the red Disco that span on the straight just before the HP!

Phil

Wow, I've got 20 seconds of you Ian.

Heading downhill to the dead-stop hairpin, about a mile into St3.

And I gotta be fair, you WERE NOT hanging around down that hill!

The clip is 26.6 MB. I recon that is too big to email

I wasn't hanging around in a few places , which is probably why we went off and spun so many times lol
Upload it on photobucket

Remember watching the Group B quattro's on the speech house stage in 1985, they were awesome going full chat along one of the straights.

Nice one Phil, some good clips there.

Those people were abit lucky on that hairpin bend where the cars kept over running the corner, especially with the Opel.
