You could do what I'm doing, fitting winter tyres to my current alloys, and over the next 4 Months or so look for some lovely new alloys for my removed summer tyres

As far as do you need winter tyres? I think it will be fun, summer tyres are hardly fun in the snow.

I have a set o Grey OZ Superlegs I have for the winter. Fitted with a less sporting tyre. Also keeps the white ones clean and prolongs the tyre life.

You don't need a set, but it is a good idea as you can put some winter tyres on them and also save your nice shiny wheels from the salt and grud on the roads. Having said that i haven't got a set myself, but mine is a second car with ony weekend use normally.
