Pulled By Police On Driveway
Hi all,
Just had police stop me outside my house while parked trying to give me ticket for having my fog lights, which then they went around car and noticed that my number plate was illiegal. So he give me 3 choices, Spend day in court, have £60 fine for fogs or £30 for number plates. So obviously i chose the plates.
But as they were about to go, we got talking as one copper had a cataluna and he asked if mine was a turbo (as it has sti kit plus full graphics *see pics*) and i said no but then the fat copper decided to tell me my exhaust was iliiegal as it wasnt on a turbo and also my back lights are!!!
So point to story is, can my exhaust be illiegal if its come off a turbo n put on a sport? (see pics - Plus what Bout the Lights, as the sidelights shine through bright and can clearly see all)
Just wanted info
Regards
Andy

they have a point, the exhaust must be type approved for your car, and fogs must only be on in low visibility, plates must be of the legal standard. having said that, i would have seen the ***** in court, this is on your land, and provided they did not see your car on the highway being driven prior to being on your drive, they can **** themselves. In fact, i would have told them to get the **** off your land. **** w4nkers.

No it can'tr be illegal just because its off a turbo...a pipe is a pipe, end of the day, its based on emissions but also loudness (dbs) it can't be illegal just because its not 'standard'.

They always pull me for various made up reasons... they just love the cars, They impounded it a while ago as it showed up NO insurance... yet 2 days later [after not mentioning it to my insurers] I got pulled, and it showed as insured no probs. Quite clearly they just wanted the car.

They love it mate, tell them how it is, tell them things that they think you don't know. Like it has to pass the db test witch is so and so amount, and it does pass it. Tell them how a stainless pipe from the engine heads or turbo makes no difference to it being ''illegal''.

lol... tbh take you to court for what? They can't do that, its a scare technique, they can give you fines for both things, you CAN request a court hearing for the matter however, and if the car was indeed parked on your drive, your solicitor should of been able to get it thrown out of court even before it was heard.

well as far as i'm concerned if it's on your drive you don't need m o t /tax /or insurance so as for the rest i would have told them to go away in short sexual physical jerks in other words F OFF

fair enough i'd rather take a fine for £30 than £60, but my point is no need to go around the car with a fine tooth comb, looking for more faults when im fully insured, tax'd n mot'd when they could be stopping uninsured drivers which bump our insurance rates up!!!

At the end of the day as long as your car passed the MOT with the lights and exhaust on there are no problems. Obviously the numberplate is a problem. Just ignore them and pay the £30
I got stopped by Plod a few weeks ago and he wanted to do me for my loud exhaust until i pointed out that he had a headlight out Therefore a defective vehicle Lets say he did'nt look too happy. Plus the car has an MOT with that exhaust on

I think you will find that they CAN take you to court, for having a non standard exhaust,as I can testify. (no pun intended!)
I got stopped,years ago,in my old Type R,with a Blitz exhaust.
I got done with "driving the car in such a way,as to make the exhaust sound loud" and for having a "non standard exhaust".
He even had the tape measure out, checking how big the tail pipe was!!
I had just come off a roundabout, knowing the police were behind me,so wasn't going hard.Plus my Mother was in the passenger seat,so I was hardly going to be gunning it,with her in the car.
Still got nailed.*******s!
Court fined me 120 quid.
