Internal drive wheel nut - SPLIT !!!!
Hi All,
As above, just been changing my nuts for shiny new ones and 1 of the old steel/chromed internal drives has split
- it went when I put it on last week so can't be that tight - but the internal drive socket won't touch it now - slightly too large with the side split
Any tips ?????? Please

Spot weld the adaptor onto the wheel nut, internal wheel nuts are prone to fractures if torqued over 90NM (67 Ib/ft). External wheel nuts are stronger as the force is displaced over a greater surface area.

Yeah - welding would/should do it, worried about the wheel though, would a chemical metal type compound join the internal socket enough to loosen it, I wonder, or could I split it further - to "un-wind" it off ?
Wanted to get a torque wrench - just for this type of job !!

At last - got this little blighter off !!!!! I tapped the edges - where it had split in 2 places, with a flat blade, putting it more or less back into shape, took a deep breath and "Hammered" a 19mm socket over the nut, thank god it bit and the nut wound off !!!! Happy day

If in doubt wack it out - seriously though, if I had done this first, then it would it would have come out with no damage at all !!!
I got a few tool marks now from the previous attempt
Thanks to Rich for the lend of the removing tool - shame the collar was bigger than the hole as I think that would have worked too
